Community Service Awards

Entry Deadline: January 14, 2018

Community Service Awards are given in recognition of the station’s overall community service activity for the year.

The OAB Community Service Awards recognize member commercial and educational radio and television stations for their outstanding community service. The purpose of the award is to spotlight the tremendous job the Oklahoma radio and television stations do for their local communities. The program is not a competition, but rather a recognition program based on the merits of the station’s activities.

The activities listed must have occurred January 1 through December 31, 2017.

Factors that are considered in awarding an OAB Community Service Award are:

  1. Market Size
  2. Need—What specific community needs did the station’s activities fulfill?
  3. Benefits—What were the ultimate benefits to the targeted organizations?
  4. Originality—Were the projects originated by the station?
  5. Degree of Station Participation—Was the station the sole promotional vehicle, or were other media involved as well?

A maximum of five letters from community leaders may be attached to support the station’s contribution to the community, but are not required.

There is no entry fee for Community Service awards.

Results will be announced on February 7, 2018. Winners will be notified via mail and
results will be posted on the OAB website at www.oabok.org. A trophy will be sent to the winning stations. Winning stations will also receive recognition in the printed materials and through an announcement at the OAB Awards Banquet on Friday, April 20, 2018, at the River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa.
