JOB SUMMARY:  Provide oversight for the Company’s accounting and finance function. Manage employees within department, provide effective instruction and supervision. Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives and maintain control of departmental expenditures. Review and approve accounts payable vouchers. Approve department expense reports and trace employee expense advances. Conduct monthly closing duties. Provide accurate, timely, and useful financial reports each month. Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly reports as required. Prepare annual/revised budgets and update systems related to financial programs on a timely basis. Provide support to departmental managers. The Controller will also coordinate audits (financial statement and compliance), act as a bank liaison, help administer benefit plans, and participate in the Company’s budget and forecast process.

 

HOURS/SCHEDULE:  Full-time schedule, generally Monday thru Friday.  Must be flexible to schedule changes.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1)    Accounting degree and CPA certification (required).  Prior broadcast accounting experience (preferred).
2)    Seven to ten years of experience, including previous management experience
3)    Candidates should have a comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
4)    Must have prior accounting and supervisory/managerial experience.
SKILLS:  Candidates should be able to perform the following tasks:

 

a.  Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
b.  Coordinating activities of external auditors
c.  Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
d.  Managing the budget process
e.  Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
f.   Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
g.  Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
h.  Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
i.   Participation in treasury and banking activities
j.   Participation in health plan and 401k administration
k.  Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff
Candidates should have computer skills that include a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Operating System (Word, Excel, etc.), as well as the ability to learn new systems.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Must possess, or be able to obtain a valid Oklahoma drivers license.
EDUCATION:  Formal education equivalent to Accounting degree and CPA certification (required). Prior broadcast accounting experience (preferred). Related experience will be evaluated by Company management and may be substituted on the basis of two years’ experience equals one year of education.
