As the Executive Producer of Special Projects at News On 6 you will be required to help drive the “Ideal Team Player” culture. As a Special Projects Producer, you will plan, produce, write and coordinate shoots for Targeted Special Reports and occasional 30-minute, 60-minute or 120-minute special broadcasts.  You will assist anchors, reporters and photojournalists in researching and assigning all aspects of our weekly Targeted Special Reports.  You will offer story ideas and maintain the Special Projects calendar.  You will write stories, request appropriate graphics, pre-production and coordinate needs to the art department and production department. As an Executive Producer and newsroom manager, you will also provide oversight to specific newscasts and other duties as assigned.  Your duties will also include doing performance reviews.  As the EP for Special Projects you are the primary backup for the Content Manager.


Daily duties include researching news, monitoring video news feeds, working with editors on video requests, making needed phone calls to obtain information for stories, staying abreast of current local, national, and international events as well as local, state, and national politics, and helping the management team respond to breaking news. Providing oversight for newscasts involves building special newscast lineups, organizing stories, determining amount of time and treatment for each, communicating with anchors, staying in contact with all field personnel to get the status of their stories, and writing news stories, teases and promos, proof reading reporter packages for content and grammar ensuring news meets legal and journalistic standards as well as the time allotted.


When supervising special projects you will be called upon to coordinate live remotes either from the control room or in the field, providing live technical direction and reorganization when necessary communicating with the director, audio, floor crew, and tape operator, as well as communicating clearly to the anchors through IFB or in person.


Formal education equivalent of BS degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field.  One year of progressively responsible experience in a television newsroom preferred. Link of work and writing samples required.

This is a Full-Time position. Must be flexible to schedule changes.
