DUTIES:  Anchor weekday mornings newscasts and report for newscasts.  Responsible for gathering and delivering information on the air in a clear, concise fashion for news broadcasts, maintaining professional on-camera appearance and representing KOTV in a positive manner in the community.  Must be able to work a beat, generate enterprise reports and turn great, “breaking news” live shots.  Must be able to gather, write and deliver news stories on-air, on station websites and on social media. Maintain awareness of current events.  Communicate with Assignment Desk and Managers throughout the day.  Understand and use pre-production.  Adhere to newsroom policies and procedures for scripts and deadlines.

 

SKILLS:  Knowledge of Journalistic practices and standards.  Ability to react appropriately on camera in both studio and live remote or breaking news situations.  Accurate and comprehensive writing skills as well as good on-camera communication skills.  Knowledge of personal computers and ability to learn new systems. Knowledge of non-linear editing systems.  Knowledge and ability to write and post on-line and on social media platforms.

 

HOURS/SCHEDULE:  Full Time – work rotating shifts and 24-hour on call availability.  Must be willing to work evenings and weekends and remain flexible with schedule changes due to holidays, vacations, sick leave and breaking news coverage.

 

EDUCATION:  Formal education equivalent of BS degree in Journalism, Communication or related field. Two years’ experience in local television news, including writing, producing, reporting and anchoring.  Video link required.
