JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for developing and implementing a long term, comprehensive news content plan for the station by capitalizing on local and statewide resources to maximize coverage.  Oversee preparation and execution of all content programming and coordinate with other Directors (Department Heads) to maintain a cohesive atmosphere and product.  Provide feedback and facilitate awareness of the changing nature of news and the products available for high-quality, cost-effective delivery and presentation on all television and digital platforms.  Lead constant innovation and evolution as technology and audiences change and adapt.  Preserve awareness of, and ensure legal compliance, for all content.

 

SKILLS:  Five years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in a television newsroom.  Must have excellent strategic, relationship and coaching skills. Effective oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality.  Ability to make quick and appropriate decisions and gain the cooperation of others.  Advanced knowledge of television technology and production equipment.

 

EDUCATION:  Formal education equivalent of BS degree in Journalism, Communications or related field.  Related experience will be evaluated by Company management and may be substituted on the basis of two years of experience equals one year of education.
