The Oklahoma Educational Television Authority (OETA) announces the opening of the position titled MANAGER, NEWS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS in Oklahoma City. Applicants will be accepted through April 20, 2019. The most qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall responsibility for the supervision and coordination of news and public affairs programs for the OETA, the state PBS network in Oklahoma. Responsible for the supervision of the Oklahoma City and Tulsa news and public affairs personnel. Assist in the development of the staff’s professional skills and performance management process. Responsible for contributing to the agency’s long range strategic planning. This position reports to the OETA Vice President of Content Production and has the primary responsibility to recommend news/public affairs program policies, special productions, news series and manage departmental staff and budget. Will have responsibility for station compliance with FCC rules and regulations that govern libel, personal attack, fairness, and coverage of political candidates as related to news and public affairs programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or related field is required
• Five to ten years experience in a broadcast news department

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to integrate OETA news and public affairs content into broadcast, digital,
and social media platforms
• Expertise in news reporting, writing, editing, and producing news/public affairs material along with experience with or knowledge of contemporary digital production equipment
• On-camera experience
• Excellent leadership and communication skills

COMPENSATION
Salary ranging from $42,000 to $52,000 per year. A generous benefit package including health, leave, retirement, plus much more.
