KGOU Host / Social Media Coordinator
Reports to: KGOU Program Director
KGOU Radio, Oklahoma City

KGOU public radio is looking for a new on-air voice to greet afternoon listeners in the Oklahoma City metro area. Our next local All Things Considered host will be an engaging announcer and newscaster with a conversational on-air sound. This person will also possess sharp news instincts and strong storytelling skills, with an ability to inform and entertain KGOU’s second largest weekday audience.

The other half of the job will be dedicated to being KGOU’s voice on social media. We’re looking for a self-starter who can take a creative approach to social media, help reporters elevate their online stories, and manage a live blog during breaking news situations.

KGOU has a strong tradition of local, state and regional news coverage, and the new Host / Social Media Coordinator will play a key role in shaping our on-air sound. Our newsroom has won many awards, including 8 Oklahoma Associated Press “Sweepstakes Awards.” KGOU stories are regularly heard on NPR, and the All Things Considered host will be called on to file national spot news. The successful candidate will also be expected to find audio for newscasts, update newscast stories, and occasionally serve as emcee/station representative at KGOU events.

The ideal candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, political science or other appropriate field;
Two years’ experience in broadcasting, or some equivalent combination of education and experience;
At least one year experience doing social media for an organization;
Strong writing skills and knowledge of AP style;
Experience with web posting, broadcast and audio editing software and equipment;
Strong time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.

The position is open until filled. The hourly salary is $17.31. The University of Oklahoma offers excellent fringe benefits. KGOU Radio at The University of Oklahoma is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
