Oklahoma broadcasting icon Dan Stroud began his career at KOSU and KSPI in Stillwater while attending Oklahoma State University in the mid 1970’s. After graduation he moved to Oklahoma City and was a successful news reporter for KOCY AM. In 1982, Dan migrated to the FM band on the company’s brand new 96.1 KXY Country, where he joined Dave Murray to form the Dave & Dan Morning Show.
Dan’s dry humor and quick wit were the perfect complement to Dave Murray’s folksy approach to announcing, and in time they blended with their unique chemistry. By late 1985, their show was number one in Oklahoma City radio and a top 5 radio show nationally. This trend of excellence continued well into the late 1990’s and in 1992 they had the largest market share of all radio stations nationwide.
Dan’s ability to create compelling and hilarious segments and fictional characters enhanced the show's popularity, and as Dave’s quirky foil, he was the funniest guy on the radio.
