2026 Hall of Fame, Dave MurrayDave Murray started his illustrious career in radio in 1963 in Norman, Oklahoma, hosting afternoon drive and handling High School football until he graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1967. After getting his law degree at OU, Dave enlisted in the service where he worked at radio stations on the weekends.
In 1982, Dave came home to the brand-new country station KXXY FM in Oklahoma City and was teamed up mornings with pilot/broadcaster Dan Stroud. Together they created the most dominant radio show not only in Oklahoma, but nationally as well. From 1985 to 1997 Dave & Dan had the highest morning drive ratings in Oklahoma and throughout the entire country in 1992.
The Dave & Dan Show featured their “yin and yang” view of the world along with an all-star cast of contributors who made them funny, relevant, and above all, your very best friends. Dave’s contributions to community service were unparalleled and his ability to co-host and drive the most successful station in the country over such a long period of time was unique. Dave retired from KXXY in 2005 after a remarkable run in radio.
