Game Changer for Video Streaming of High School Sports

OAB Past Chairman Will Payne, Payne Media Group, Senator Bill Coleman, Ponca City and OAB President Vance Harrison react to the passage of SB302.

The State Legislature has passed SB302 which allows visiting teams equal access to video stream high school sports.

This law levels the playing field for all school districts and eliminates out-of-state companies that have been enforcing exclusive media contracts that deny equal access.

The bill’s author was Senator Bill Coleman (Ponca City) and it passed the Senate by a 45-0 vote and the House of Representatives with a 88-2 vote.

It takes effect on July 1st and we expect the net result to be more access for local broadcasters that want to video stream their High School teams.  This is an important win for local schools and local broadcasters.
